Derek Sommers
Managing Partner
Derek is a managing partner at DBM, a full-service insurance brokerage that specializes in the employee benefits sector. Prior to his partnership at DBM he was a District and Regional coordinator for one of the largest supplemental insurance companies in the U.S. During his time there he was continually recognized for leading the state and territory in most of the measurable categories he was responsible for. His drive and determination drove him to push himself and his teams to the next level which in turn lead to great success and recognition. He loves to attack his personal life with the same drive and determination as he does when he is dealing with business. Whether he is out hunting, fishing, camping, playing sports or jumping out of planes he looks to experience the most he can with every situation. He has been blessed with a beautiful family and wants to live his life to the fullest so that he can leave a legacy worth fighting for and teach his children how to always look for an opportunity to bless others. He hopes to be able to take his entire family to Haiti one day to continue the same type of work he was fortunate to do in Cambodia and Japan.
Bridget Townsend
Managing Partner
Bridget is a managing partner at Diversified Benefits Management, a full service Insurance brokerage that handles employee benefit packages. Before starting her partnership at DBM, she had consistent recognition in her roles with other insurance carriers. She received numerous annual awards both as a District and Regional Manager. Bridget has a strong drive and passion for what she does in her personal and professional life. She won’t give up easily and strives to meet her goals, and assist others in meeting theirs. By nature, she finds the fun and adventure in everything and strives to incorporate it in her work life as well. Her heart for service has led her to make annual trips to Guatemala to provide dental care to those in need, as well as help other charitable organizations. A favorite quote of Bridget’s is :“You are driven by your heart, you are driven by your talent and you are driven by your instinct.” Anna Wintour When Bridget is not volunteering her time toward causes that matter to her, you can find her making friends with just about every stranger she encounters whether it’s the barista at a coffee shop or the people in line with her.
Matt Bumala
Managing Partner
Matt is a Managing Partner at DBM. He started in the industry in 2008 with a passion for helping others and coming up with creative strategies for individuals and companies for employee benefits.
He served many roles, including as a Regional Manager for one of the largest voluntary benefit carriers for 11 years, winning multiple awards and leading in almost every measurable category for many of those years.
Having been born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, he is no stranger to the beauty and culture that he calls “home”. He enjoys fishing, golf and is a HUGE fan of the Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trailblazers. As a matter of fact, he was at Super Bowl 49 with Derek Sommers when the Seahawks played the New England Patriots (But be careful about mentioning that last play to him).
Matt has a passion to serve and make a difference in not only his community but abroad. He has been on several trips out of the country to help at orphanages, build churches and feeding families. In the future, there will be many more outreach trips that he looks forward to being a part of.
Above everything else, Matt is passionate about his family. His wife and 4 kids are the most important thing in his whole life and they are the motivation behind everything he does.
